It's time for another nude: not the Nude, that's coming up on the first of September - I'm priming my canvas as I type (I should add ambidextrousness to my list of talents, except that it's made up and I'm being daft) - this nude is ten years old and doesn't look a day over fifty!
She's lovely and blurry and fuzzled at the edges: like mist - a pastel mist.
All this getting ready to interview Nuala NĂ ChonchĂșir has been extremely beneficial to my creativity. I've written five short stories over the last seven days ( I can't call it a week because it didn't begin on a Monday, nor end on Sunday), and they're all going in my almost complete collection. I like to imagine I have a publishing deal and all the trimmings, there's no point being a pessimist is there? Or a pastelmist. Perhaps I am ever so slightly losing the plot, but it will all come out in the wash. Speaking of...I'd better get these brushes washed!
Five stories in sever days? Are you serious? Wow! I haven't been in the zone like that for the longest time.
ReplyDeleteI like the pastel nude a lot. I like the colors. It reminds me of Monet's Waterloo Bridge with its soft pinks and blues.
It won't last, so that's why I'm goibg with it, Lori. It followed a week of tumbleweed! I think you are too kind with your comments about my drawings, but thank you, I really appreaciate them!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog a few weeks ago. I have to admit to being a terrible lurker--I kept stopping in to read your posts but was so frazzled getting my new book into production I had no time to comment. I enjoy reading what you write very much, and now I see all this lovely artwork. Best wishes to you. (Oh, also wanted to mention my post of yesterday is about NZ writer, Hugh Cook. Way before your time, but may be interesting too!). Valerie
ReplyDeleteWe're like passing ships, Valerie...I've just returned from your lovely blog! Thank you for stopping by mine, too, I really appreciate your support. You must be very frazzled indeed. Put your feet up gal and have a cup of tea! I'm so pleased you enjoy my blog. Thanks again:)
ReplyDeleteYou write and paint? Quite the Renaissance woman.
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about self-publishing your short stories, Rachel?
I don't want to go down the self-publishing route...I've done that for a poetry pamphlet for charity and, to be honest, the organisation needed was a nightmare! I haven't tried to do anything with any of my writing until recently...was just scribbling away for fun/sanity, so I'd really like to see where I can go with it. I'm getting together a file of journals etc to send my poetry and stories to and then it's a case of plodding on with the novel/s...I've always got about five different things on the go!
ReplyDeleteps Donna, is the lack of comments box a deliberate thing this time? I tried to leave you a comment re: "tall, dark handsome naked butt"!
ReplyDeleteWow! Five stories in a week. I'm never that productive though I have managed eight first drafts of poems in the past three days which must be something of a record for me.
ReplyDeleteYour drawings are very good :)
Your eight poems definitely wins my five stories, Andrea - no contest! I bow down before thee!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'll have a few weeks of nothingness very shortly though, which is why I like to have a painting on the go, too - switch the focus but keep the brain going!
Wow. Five short stories in a week is some accomplishment! Well done, you!
ReplyDeleteHey AW, thanks, I've just written three more, but I think the well may be running dry now! I've primed another canvas in preparation for a little diversion! A whopper, too, 5feet x 2, so that should give me time to think up some more stories! I may photograph it in it's various stages and post them on the blog!

LMAO! My blog went all funny a couple of days ago and the last three entries disappeared entirely. I think everything is fixed now - anything for a comment about tall, dark handsome naked butt's!
I love the way you are getting ready for the Nude tour and good stuff on all the writing you´re getting done.
ReplyDeleteDonna - hey, I'd skip the "comment about" all together!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Merc, and I'll look forward to following the Nude tour all the way to your blog! :)
