Shortened long

Not quite there yet.

Two lovely snippets of news for you:

One of my stories made it to the longlist of the Sean O'Faolain Prize - Congratulations to overall winner Nikita Nelin and to all the other entrants, and huge thanks to Tania Hershman for posting the list.

Secondly, Mark Reep has done an awesome job of setting up the Ramshackle Review and I was lucky enough to have a poem chosen for the first issue. It's a very cool venue and I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops as Mark is an especially talented artist and writer who blogs here.

  9. Huge congratulations on the longlisting in a very prestigious and sought-after place to be.

Love "scoop up your two toothed, grinning, compliant softness" from your poem, too.

  10. Thanks, Teresa!

Glad you like the poem, too - I was/am really thrilled Mark asked me to be in the first issue. That line was about my son when he was 12 months - all chops, dribble and toothy grins - and those daft chuckles babies do for no apparent reason!

  11. Thanks, Rachel...now...if I can just keep the ball rolling....

It was on my blog, Andrea - that's where Mark saw it and liked it. Thanks.

  17. Wow to the painting - I'm really liking the revelation of this series/triptych.
And wow! to the longlist and wow!! to the Review, where I'm popping over to now.

It's in the post, and not as expensive as one might have thought considering you are, er, on the other side of the world.

  21. Hey, Kass - thank you. A little hope carries me a long way.

My son (I wrote the poem about/to/for him) is quite ill with a virus currently, so the poem feels very sad to me just now.

  22. Congratulations! I really like the poem and can identify with it. I hope your son gets better soon.

  23. Thank you, Helen.

The doctor thinks my son has flu. Third day in and after a slight improvement yesterday - went all day without being sick - he's back to square one today. I want my rough and tumbler back.

Apologies to all you other bloggers out there for my absence from the blogosphere - I have caught the flu from my son - sick as a badger! Back in a few days when I feel better!
