I just came across this over on AUT's facebook page, stuck a sample of my writing in, had it weighed and was very happy with the results: I am one lean writing machine!
Fascinating, especially to see that my fiction is a lot leaner than the MA dissertation I did three years ago - tells me my writing has improved through practise. Although I was not entirely lean, I attribute that to the fact that there was dialogue in the fiction submitted. Thanks for the link.

Over on my blog I've just linked to 'Escape Behaviours' as part of one of those award-thingies that do the rounds every so often. I'm sure you'll have had LOADS of these in the past so only reciprocate if you want to. I just wanted to link to your awesome creation.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, a great resource, isn't it? Managed fit and trim. It made me think about verb-use.
I tried pasting some James Joyce into it. He came out lean on all counts. It would be interesting to subject other authors to the treatment.
Hahaha. Margery would have no doubt embraced this technology, thoug I doubt it would have altered her style much.

Joyce is possibly anorexic by the BMI of this gadget, however - give the man a sentence expander - build him up some!
You could make a chart for different authors - an excerpt slim club; see who comes out the trimmest....that's probably fattist though....
