A graphic affair

On Sunday, A Graphic Affair went public at Auckland writers Festival and I was involved, and there were witnesses. And photographs.

OK.
Here's Ant Sang, assisted by Damon Keen, reading an excerpt from Dharma Punks.

I presented a medley of poetry, graphics, feminist activism and even a spot of promotion for Three Words tied in! many thanks to Christine O'Brien for assisting me!

But it was Sam Orchard's funny, open and heartfelt puppet comic that stole the show.

  1. I'm enjoying seeing how art forms can expand and marry.

Your poem stands on its own. "...the earth's cervix..." yikes, I love this.

  2. Cheers, Kass! The first poem, "Work", is published in Poetry Bus, and "Exhumed at Earth's End" is forthcoming in the transTasman issue of Overland Journal. I just wondered what would happen if I put all of those pieces and thoughts together...I'm glad you think it works!

  3. Wow, you are a great show woman! How do you do it? You're mesmerizing up there. Like a magician. What will she do/say next? What will come out of her hands? Beautiful! I need to see you live once!

  4. Oh, Lori, thank you! I was so nervous and I didn't recite or read my poetry at all well, but I hope the content came across despite me! I hope I see you in real life, too, hopefully more than once :)

If I do this again, I want a head mic, like Madonna in concert - I just didn't have enough hands!
