Lovely, evocative pics. I was there 30 or so years ago with my beloved sister, who has since died. I need to go back and make some new memories in Haworth. I hope it was wondrous for you, Rae x
Awe, Nu, sorry, love. I hope you do get to go back - I imagine Juno will have fun chasing those chickens up the yard, and there's a cafe where you can paint ceramics for keepsakes. I loved the parsonage library, the snow hitting the windows, and the frog up on the moor that was most disgruntled when I disturbed its quiet place in the heath. xx
Beautiful, vivid images, Rae. Yes, I will go back. And bring Juno with me. She loved Emily Dickinson's house and talks about her now as if she is someone we know, a friend. I can start her Bronte-love early :)
Miss Emily makes anyone who reads your novel think we know her, doubtless you've brought her to life for Juno in more ways than words - walking their rooms is a great way to step into a writer's life; the rooms don't leave us even if we think we've left them. xx
So the sisters were all buried inside the church, not the cemetery?
ReplyDeleteWhat type of representation/reference do they have inside?
Anne died and was buried in Scarborough, Mark. There's a stone inside the church for other family members.
