Beginnings

Hullo,
this is my first blog - ever. I am an unpublished, and unrepresented, writer. Hopefully, I will change this, and this blog is my invitation to all of you out there to share my journey.

I have just sent off my first novel to an agent and had a request for a partial. The wait to know my fate is killing me!

Hi Rachel, thought I'd pop by to see your blog. Good luck with the hunt for an agent - Andrea is an inspiration in that regard. Another option is to just send it to a local publisher e.g. Penguin or Random and then when you have a NZ publisher they will try their linked publishers overseas, and if that doesn't go anywhere then you can go the overseas agent route...
Oh its a labrynth. Good luck. Mary

Thanks so much Mary!
I don't think my first book has enough ties to NZ to be considered by a publisher here...it's set mostly in the North of England and a little in NZ...so I've sent it to a UK agent. Have a new project in the pipeline that fits the NZ bill though so will see what happens.

Your novel sounds interesting! I have no ideas about agents and what not, but I think getting it out there sounds like a great idea and something will turn up, probably when you least expect it :)
