Push her

I'm completely floored to have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for my story "Dinghy". My sincerest thanks and gratitude to Sian Williams and Michelle Elvy at Flash Frontier.

An underground of applause

I'm very pleased to have a story, "Blue Blood", in the December "Underground" issue of Flash Frontier. Many thanks to Editors Sian Williams and Michelle Elvy for including it.

This issue is Sian's last, unfortunately, so I'd like to take this opportunity to thank her for accepting so many of my stories at Flash Frontier over the last couple of years - I've greatly enjoyed every piece of Sian's fiction I've read there, too - and I wish her all the very best for her future endeavours.

A drift

My very short fiction "Hunters in the Snow" is featured in a form flashing blizzard at Flash Frontier, with a commentary, alongside other pieces from Leanne Radojkovich, Jaclyn Bergamino, Martin Porter, and Kathryn Jenkins. Many thanks to Editors Michelle Elvy and Sian Williams for having me in their snow themed issue, and for giving my Flash Mob story a second flurry.

July grateful

A big, big thank you goes out to Michelle Elvy and Sian Williams - editors of Flash Frontier - for awarding me "Flash Frontier’s 2013 Winter Award for excellence in writing".

July has been a great month for me (see my Short FICTION win). Those of you who believe in astrology might say my recent good luck has something to do with my being a Leo. Personally, I put it down to the good advice and nurturing of other writers and editors - thanks all of you - and a LOT of hard work: many, many hours writing, reading, writing, editing, reading, writing, and so on.

I'm particularly grateful to Flash Frontier for hosting so many of my stories - including another in their forthcoming SNOW issue - please, do check them out if you haven't already - the National Flash Fiction Day Competition Winners Special is a great place to get acquainted with some of the talent you'll meet with there.

Good tidings

Is it good things or disasters that come in threes? Or maybe just buses. Well, I have pairs of goodness. Two pairs.

My flash "Waiting for High Tide" is in the April issue of Flash Frontiers, along with "Young Girl With a Sheaf", published in the December "Gift" issue and now republished with a commentary from me - a sort of behind the scenes of my creativity/inspiration for the piece.

I also have two fictions in Brief #47- "Songs From a Room" and "Woman On Wire" - which I'll be going along to the launch of on Saturday evening at The Audio Foundation, where comics anthology Dailies is being launched in tandem!

Massive thanks to respective editors Michelle Elvy, Sian Williams, and Alex Wild.

PS Alex's book The Constant Losers is well worth a look for anyone with an interest in youth culture and graphics in novels, or anyone whose ever read the scrawl on a toilet wall...
